The short version

Your contractor prices the work. We make sure the quotation is clear.

After the site visit, your contractor prices the job at trade rates. We prepare that into a clear written quotation on our template, naming your contractor as the appointed main contractor, and send it to you.

It is free, it carries no obligation, and it is valid for 30 days, so you have time to read it properly and ask us anything.

Step by step

From site visit to quotation

  1. The site visit

Your contractor visits at a time booked around you, sees the job and works out what it needs.

  2. Your contractor prices it

At trade rates. The scope and the price are theirs: they are the specialist in the work.

  3. We prepare your quotation

A clear written quotation on our template, naming your contractor. On smaller jobs we aim to have it with you within about 48 hours of the visit; more involved work can take longer to price properly.

  4. You read it and ask questions

Anything unclear, ask us. We get the answers from your contractor.

  5. You decide

The quotation is valid for 30 days. If you go ahead, a 25% deposit secures the works and we organise a start date with you.

What it shows

What your quotation sets out

Your main contractor

The independent company that will carry out the work, named before you commit.

The work and the price

The work to be carried out, as priced by your contractor after the visit.

The payment terms

A 25% deposit to secure the works, with the balance due on completion.

The warranty

Your contractor's workmanship warranty terms. Every contractor in our network gives at least 12 months.

How long it is valid

30 days from issue, so there is no pressure to decide on the spot.

Who to ask

Us. Every question about your quotation comes to us, and we get the answer.

Comparing quotations

How to compare quotes fairly

If you are comparing our quotation with others, compare like with like. Check that each one covers the same work, the same materials and the same finish.

Look at what is included, such as scaffolding and taking waste away, and at the warranty each contractor offers and how long it runs.

Check who will actually do the work. Ours names your contractor. And be wary of a price that is far below the rest, because the difference usually turns up somewhere later.

We will not claim to be the cheapest. What we aim to be is clear, comparable to going direct, and organised from the first call to the finished job.
