Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information, who we share it with, and your rights. Effective 29 September 2026.

1

Who we are

Mortaro Group is a trading name of Johnson & Marshall Limited, a limited company registered in Gibraltar, company number 125247. For the purposes of data protection law, Johnson & Marshall Limited is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

You can contact us about anything in this policy by email at info@mortarogroup.co.uk or by phone on 020 8088 9658.

2

What we collect

When you enquire (through the website, by email, by phone or on WhatsApp): your name, email address, phone number, the postcode or address of the property, a description of the work, and anything else you choose to send us, such as photographs.

During a project: your quotation, our correspondence with you, the site visit and start dates, and payment records (amounts, dates and the account a payment came from). Payments are made by bank transfer; we do not take or store card details.

If you are a contractor: your company name, contact details, trade, the areas you cover, and the information you provide for our checks, such as insurance, references and work history.

When you use this website: basic technical information that web servers record automatically, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. We do not currently use analytics or advertising tools on this website.

3

How we use it, and our lawful basis

To respond to your enquiry and arrange your project, including appointing a contractor, booking the site visit and preparing your quotation. Our basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and our legitimate interest in coordinating the work you have asked about.

To coordinate your project and administer payments as payment administration agent for your appointed contractor. Our basis is the performance of the arrangements you have entered into, and our legitimate interests.

To keep proper business and accounting records. Our basis is our legal obligations.

To assess and manage contractors in our network. Our basis is our legitimate interest in maintaining the standards our customers rely on.

To keep this website working and secure. Our basis is our legitimate interests.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not send you marketing unless you have asked us to.

4

Who we share it with

Your appointed main contractor. We share your name, contact details, the property address and the details of the work so they can survey, price and carry out the job. They are an independent company and use your information under their own responsibilities as a business.

Service providers who help us run the business: our website host, our email provider, WhatsApp (if you choose to message us there, your messages are also handled by WhatsApp under its own terms), and Wise, which we use to receive and pass on bank transfer payments. They handle your information to provide their service to us. Wise also processes payment information under its own legal obligations as a regulated payment provider.

Professional advisers, and authorities where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not sell your information, and we do not pass your enquiry to other companies for their marketing.

5

Where it is stored

Your information is held in our email system and on our website, both of which are run on systems provided by our service providers. Those providers may store information in the UK, the European Union or elsewhere.

Johnson & Marshall Limited is registered in Gibraltar, which UK law recognises as providing an adequate level of protection for personal information. Where information is held by a provider outside the UK, we rely on the protections UK data protection law requires, such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual safeguards.

6

How long we keep it

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes in this policy, or for as long as the law requires.

Enquiries that do not go ahead: up to two years from our last contact with you, in case you come back to us about the same work.

Customer project records, including quotations, correspondence and payment records: six years after the project is completed. This covers accounting requirements and the period in which a claim about the work could be made.

Contractors: applications that do not proceed, up to two years. Records for contractors in our network are kept while they remain in it, and for six years afterwards.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time. We will do so unless we need to keep something by law or to deal with a claim, and we will tell you if that applies.

7

Cookies

This website does not set cookies for visitors, and we do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies. If that changes, we will ask for your consent first. Our cookie policy has the detail.

8

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict how we use it, or transfer it to you or another organisation. You can object to our use of your information where we rely on legitimate interests, and withdraw consent where we rely on it.

To make a request, email info@mortarogroup.co.uk. We will respond within one month. Some rights have limits, for example where we must keep records by law, and we will explain if one applies.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office in the UK (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113), or to the Gibraltar Regulatory Authority, which supervises data protection in Gibraltar (gra.gi).
